2018 VinDiego was a wonderful wine festival featuring Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Santa Barbara, Oregon and Washington with a few from San Diego/Temecula areas. Some of my favorite wines were GoldSchmidt Cabernet from Alexander Valley and Ramazzotti Regale also from Alexander Valley. These two red wines really stood out. Niner Wine Estates Cabernet from Paso Robles was another red that stood out from other tastings. Food was outstanding from local restaurants like Luna Grill, Florent, Solare, Studio Diner and Gelson with the cheeses! It seems the four hours we were there weren’t long enough! The food ran out (Luna Grill) which was a bummer but the wine didn’t! Some of my favorites were Solare’s Sicilian Butternut Squash Soup, Florent Short Ribs, Flagship Cruises’s Lobster Arancini and Luna Grill Mediterranean Chicken Salad. We strongly suggest that you mark your calendar for next year and opt for the VIP ticket, you get an extra hour to taste! More notes to come on wine tastings at the event!!!
