I don’t think it’s a surprise to anyone that one of my all-time favorite wines is Caymus. Just take a look at what is on my bar on our blog. Make no mistake this is not an inexpensive wine, however for special occasions I think it’s well worth it. How about a 30th wedding anniversary. So it was for me and my lovely wife. We decided to splurge and take this bottle with us out to eat at one of our favorite restaurants. What a great night with a great wife and a great wine. This wine is big, bold and very complex. We started off with a gourmet cheese plate. The cheeses brought out so many different characters of this wine. It really paired well with the sweet and sharp cheeses. They brought out a licorice quality that was a real surprise. Of course you still have the rich, jammy yet toasty Cab but with added qualities like licorice and spice that make this wine so special. Make sure you let this one breath at least 1 hour before drinking. This wine is still available in some stores and can be bought online as well. Prices vary but they range from $79 to $140. This is an incredible wine that will make any anniversary special. I give this wine 5 glasses. Awesome!

Richard is a musician who grew up in Santa Maria with a family rich with red wine tradition. According to the family legends, his grandfather used to make wine out of grapefruit when grapes were not available. He grew up drinking and making wine with his father and other Italian families in the central coast, long before there were grape vines in the area. In fact, the reason his family located to California was to make wine!
