So what do you do when you get a bottle of Italian wine as a gift? You open it up and order pizza of course!! And that is exactly what we did. This wine hails from Piemonte (Northern Italy) were some of the most well-known wines come from. It has a medium intensity with notes of plum, strawberry, tobacco and peppercorn. The overall taste is mellow and smooth with pleasing tannins and balanced acidity. The finish was medium long and very nice. This is also a nice drinking wine. When we paired it with the antipasti salad it really brought out the licorice in the wine. Overall a very nice wine for pairing with Italian food – of course, or even just for drinking. I give this wine a strong 3 out of 5 glasses.
