OK I know I’m a red wine guy but sometimes you just have to have a glass (or maybe a bottle) of white wine. Call it a secret vice or just call it a need to pair the right wine with my meal. My wonderful wife created a fantastic food ensemble of swordfish, Tuscan style with tomatoes, garlic, lemon and feta cheese and rice with spinach and mushrooms. This dish needed a pairing of a wine with enough acidity to balance the dish. Enter Mer Soleil, a California chardonnay from the Wagner family of wines (Caymus). This wine had an intense level of fruity notes as well as hints of vanilla and butter. Clear crisp and delightful best describe this marvelous wine that had apple, pear and pineapple notes. I give this wine 4 glasses for value and taste.
