Paxis is a red blend wine from Lisboa, Portugal. The grapes are Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo – hey a grape I heard of) This wine is $6.00 at Costco. Inexpensive in price but not in taste and complexity. Nice light ruby color, medium body with medium tannins and medium acidity. Perfectly balanced with very fruity notes of cherry, dried fig, dill along with some floral notes. Another twist top wine. I must say I am no longer afraid of twist top bottles, this is the second wine I reviewed with a twist top and it is really quite good.
It paired really well with the Traegered Ribs that were marinated in garlic and oranges for 24 hours and then dry rubbed with my special rub. A great go-to wine on its own or for summer Barbecuing. I give this 3 solid glasses.
