I remember Paso Robles when it was nothing but a horse and buggy town – well not quite that far back, but now they produce world class wines. Boy these times they are a changing! This 2016 Zinfandel comes from the Rabble winery in Paso Robles. It uses not only grapes from Paso Robles but also from the Santa Maria Valley (my home town). The wine has a nice aroma on the nose with hints of raspberries, leather and tobacco. When we first opened it up it was sharp on the taste so we let it breath for an hour or so- what a difference! The tannins are nice and the finish is medium to long. We paired this wine with tilapia, gnocchi and broccoli. It went well with all of our pairings. A very enjoyable and versatile wine. I give it 3 out of 5 glasses.
