We ran across this 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon wine at Costco and the “Stags Leap District” stood out to us and said “buy me”! We purchased 3 bottles just in case this wine was exceptional. Opened it up while cooking some burgers on the grill. The aroma was fruitful, cherries & blackberries — that “Stags Leap” aroma! Smooth with high tannins, but not too high. Acidity was medium with a very nice finish. It’s hard to describe, but I always know when it’s Stags Leap! (Same for Oakville and Rutherford dust.) This wine is youthful, but I taste the potential of a few more years asleep in my cellar to make this a 95 point wine! Yes 95 points! I don’t give that rating out freely either. This wine is a sleeper!!! I give this wine 4 glasses.
