Names of wines are really becoming more descriptive, interesting and unusual. This Red Wine Blend from Alexander Valley is a great example: The Weasel and the Cork. According to the label weasels would steal the corks from patrons and force them to drink a whole bottle of wine. Well, after trying this wine you won’t really need a weasel stealing the cork to entice you to finish one bottle and open another. The aroma is rich with dried cherries, blackberry, spice and light oak. It’s a light to medium bodied wine with low acidity and mild tannins. The finish was short but not unpleasantly short. This wine paired really well with pork and creamy cheeses. It did not pair so well with the stronger cheeses in my opinion. This is a very nice drinking wine on its own as well and I give it 3 glasses.
